Mortal Obsession

Since the sudden, grisly death of her spouse six months before, Christian policewoman Carmen Gonzalez has been obsessed with thoughts of her own untimely, gruesome end: getting knifed by thugs in a desolate alley; being jolted awake by the murderous blows of an intruder's ax or by a thousand-degree conflagration from which there is no escape; getting mutilated and mangled in a ghastly car crash, like her beloved husband. Despite unremitting efforts to convince herself that these specters are the result of overwork, of stress, of having been in too many life-imperiling predicaments, of having witnessed too much barbarity and death, they keep coming in ever-changing, intensely vivid, disturbingly deadly form, constraining Officer Gonzalez to consider a most unsettling possibility: Is she peering through the portal of the future, at her own terrible end? In reality, two obsessively driven fiends have marked Carmen for death: a Jesus-hating cop who derives supreme pleasure from torturing and murdering; a psychotic genius who mentally transforms himself into a merciless killing machine. Can Officer Gonzalez, a committed follower of Christ--and world-class markswoman--stop these two satanic monsters? Or will they be too much for even this mighty woman of God to defeat?
