Morosini's Children

Book Two of the Families War Cycle The United Families, a culture composed almost entirely of women, have created a special unit named Morosini's Children. These ships have the pilot's brain, removed from her body, and attached permantly to the hardware of a ship. They have ordered First Officer Corey Andersen as their commander. Corey has only a short time to finish creating the unit, learning their capabilities, fight off the enslaving Idenux, hold off inquisitive clerks who want the full detail of a top secret project, and deal with the problems she faces from her own Family, some of whom don't want anything to do with Space. After all of that, if she's lucky, she will have to lead the Children in desperate combat where their fate, and hers, are uncertain. Quite a tall order for one of the Families Navy'es most promising young commanders.
