Beskrivelse
There are dark recesses where something lurks which generate real fear; something that the mind becomes aware and the subconscious generates terror. In these crannies anything is possible: monsters can crawl out from any crevice, growing unrestricted and unfettered. Behind every closed door there may be unexpected horrors. Macabre creatures can jump out from any place and time; the unexpected occurring without warning; terrifying dangers exist everywhere. These monsters may be intelligent or mindless beasts. Nothing is either safe or normal. Real nightmares begin with this realization. Monsters can exist without any intervention. However, life is based on the double helix of DNA; the fabric of life is stretched over the framework from the blueprint it provides. DNA prescribes the form and function of every living thing. Current technology has moved into the arena where the blueprints provided by DNA can be modified. This, so called genetic engineering, has evolved in the laboratory to create life for specific purposes. These modifications are accomplished by splicing, transposition, and/or deletion of specific segments of the DNA helix. Cloning is a specific technique by which the nuclear DNA of one cell may be transposed and inserted into a totally different unrelated cell prepared without a nucleus. The intent is to generate an identical or better copy of the original organism from its DNA. There are positive and negative aspects to this process. Altering the mechanism of DNA may lead to improvements or to unexpected unforeseen results. Therefore, we may create our own monsters. It is impossible to predict what will happen in advance. The stories within this book are intended to chill the imagination, excite the senses, and generate thought. The world around us is totally unpredictable. Monsters are all around us and many are of our own making. Make sure the doors are locked when you go to sleep at night.
