Beskrivelse
Money and Liberty, by S. Herbert Frankel, examines the psychological and political foundations of the modern money economy. The author challenges those who take its continuance for granted and criticizes the neo-Keynesian belief that monetary management is sufficient to prevent its decline.
Tracing the evolution of money in relation to the free market, Frankel analyzes changing attitudes toward money and throws new light on present-day fears and dangers. He explains the suspicion of money that existed in the past and deals with aspects of corruption in the money economy in the present.
Frankel also traces the origins of the monetary principles of the Founding Fathers and of the present revolt against their ideas. He lucidly describes the ideological basis of contemporary monetary debates, destroying many of the illusions bout money that have led to worldwide inflation. In particular, he demonstrates why money, a symbol of trust, cannot continue to be used if it ultimately becomes the symbol of the opposite.
