Mona

A combination of autobiography and biography, the book tells the story of Baroness Mona de Piro, wife of His Honour Alan de Piro, QC. Mona was a foundling born in a London workhouse who, through her own efforts, became first a wartime nurse, then a film extra and finally the wife of a judge. The book concentrates on Mona's early years and demonstrates how she overcame the disadvantages and grinding poverty into which she had been born to create a vibrant cultured and successful life.
