The militants did not even spare the Muslims who were votary of secularism and humanism. It is necessary to have an understanding of the modern history of Jammu and Kashmir in order to gauge the Kashmir problem. An effort had been made in this volume to bring all important documents about the Kashmir problem at one place. These documents include the treaties and agreements between the British Government and Maharaja Gulab Singh of Jammu and Kashmir, the Governments of India and Pakistan.
