Eleanora H. Stooke is the author of the book "The Moat House". Two young ladies, one of whom is the affluent Sir Jasper's niece, are at the core of the plot, which is set in England in the middle of the 19th century. The book examines issues including social inequalities, love, and family devotion as well as the place of women in society. The two ladies have love relationships with guys from various socioeconomic backgrounds as the plot progresses. As the two families strive to work out their differences and keep their ties intact, tension between them increases. Sir Jasper's beloved niece must also work her way through a complex web of betrayals and family secrets.
