Bombings, murders, kidnappings, landings, paratroopers behind enemy lines... there was no limit to people's imaginations when it came to strategies for tipping the balance of World War II. Some operations were abandoned for technological reasons, others for incredible failures or logical reasoning. On the other hand, the Gran Sasso raid in particular turned out well even when all signs pointed to the contrary.
