Since the passing of my son, Miles Sebastian Bengco, I have written this children's book as a tribute to him. Miles was a beautiful eleven-year old boy who lived life to the fullest. This is a story about Miles and his friend's daily adventures. This book was written with the hope of educating people about asthma. This story also sends a message of how to remain positive while living with asthma. In the story, Miles is confronted with numerous challenges that many kids may perceive as negative and disappointing. My son always maintained a positive outlook in life. His favorite expression was, "This is the best____ ever " Because of that, I titled the book, Miracle Miles and His Buddy Bunch, The Best Day Ever My goal is to share my son's story and educate many people about asthma and how to remain positive, no matter what life throws your way. A portion of the proceeds from the book sales will be donated to asthma and allergy foundations, St. Jude, as well as to Miller Children's & Women's Hospital in Long Beach, CA. Long Beach Memorial was where my son was born, where he was rushed to urgent care when he had several asthma attacks, and where he peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends. I plan to write a series of short stories related to Miracle Miles and His Buddy Bunch. Each short story will educate about a medical condition designed around one of the children's characters. The condition may be cancer, autism, being restricted to a wheel chair, and any other challenging condition that a child might encounter. Miles truly was a miracle and kept a positive attitude in everything he did. Miles was funny, witty, endearing, a social butterfly, confident, a risk taker, adventurous, had a kindred spirit, affectionate, intelligent, loved to laugh, and loved his friends and family. Peace be to the memory of Miles' pure soul. He was my delight, my loving child, he was my world. When I awake and when I lie down, I think of my son. Miles' life was taken on June 19, 2013.
