Beskrivelse
Mindful Steps For Palestine. A Journey, An Awakening and a Prayer.
The meditations and reflections of a Buddhist on a campaigning five month two-thousand-mile walk from London to Palestine. One of nine who walked the whole way. Over a hundred human rights activists lead by Amos Trust in UK.
The walk offered
· an apology for the Balfour Declaration
· solidarity with Palestinians
· a call for equal rights for all who call the Holy Land home.
The journey unfolds through the landscapes and history of Europe, the Balkans, Asia Minor and the Levant, a backdrop of nation-building, war and refugees, against which the walk stuck to its primary purpose with a daily liturgy, enduring foot sores, frugality, the exhaustion of marathon days and summer heat. In 2017 there was the jubilation of arrival in Jericho, learning the harsh realities of life for Palestinians under occupation and a final climactic round of events in Ramallah and Jerusalem. In 2020, as a permanent apartheid is threatened, what are the mindful steps needed for a just peace in Palestine? The starting point is straightforward enough. Equal rights.
