Beskrivelse
Georges Palante (1862-1925) has been praised as "one of the greatest analysts of man in society". His thorough analyses of the individual-society dichotomy in several book-length studies set him apart as one of the most important theorists of individualism.
Palante also had a positive political vision, advocated for a certain kind of socialism, and even ran in local elections. This collection includes some of his most overt political writings, including a manifesto for limiting political office to a single term.
These eleven texts are included, most of them in their first English translation:
-Something new in Politics! New Problems! New parties! New men!
-The Political Applications of Individualism
-Activity vs. Dilettantism
-Socialism and Individualism
-Socialism without Marx
-Respect
-The Secular Priestly Spirit
-The Aryan Controversy
-Two Points of View in Sociology: The Intellectualist Perspective and that of the Will to Life
-What Values Should Serve as the Basis of a Sociology
-The Sociology of Georg Simmel
