Beskrivelse
During a Caribbean cruise, the narrator meets a stranger man who, disturbed and scared, avoids any social contact on the ship. Although intimidated at first, the man soon begins to trust the narrator and tells him his story. He evokes, day after day, a distant past that goes back to his childhood and adolescence in a Jewish family in a small Moroccan village. In a sort of final testament, community memories, chosen exiles or exiles provoked by the Arab Israeli wars, personal memories and amorous encounters, friendship, and betrayal, pass by. Haunting memories revived by the vision of a book that the narrator was reading. Will this book help him to finally heal his many wounds?
A character straight out of a short story of the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig.
