Beskrivelse
Art is an expression of the world that gains meaning whenever the creator turns to a theme that he or she has something to say about. Edilson Ferri brings his vision of the city with a different look. Whether in mixed media painting or photomontages, he presents fragmentation and juxtaposition as characteristics of a universe on which it is possible to launch multiple perceptions. Historical sites from the capital of São Paulo and other environments, as well as pieces of other images, are placed side by side in a play of colours and shapes. A trained architect whose first steps in art were marked by the pleasure of creating small cityscapes, Ferri is currently creating his own worlds, in which monuments, sculptures, buildings and people interact in a mature dialogue full of meaning and significance. An essential factor lies in the ways of seeing everyday life as the starting point for a reflection on the meanings of the apparent chaos in which we live in a metropolis. There is an inner order to all of this, a search for imagistic kinships that give the artist's work a mixture of critical flavour to what we call real and a making marked by differentiated compositions.
