The Pilgrims, a group of religious dissenters in England during the reign of James I, were the first English settlers in the Plymouth Colony, in Plymouth Massachusetts in the year 1620. They embarked from Leyden, Holland on board the ship "Mayflower", arriving in the New World in November of 1620. Through divine providence, hard work, determination, and their unwavering faith, these men and women began a new life and laid the foundations for a shining city upon a hill.
