Beskrivelse

Against a 1950s backdrop of New York City with racial underpinnings, Matson, the African American who now serves as chief of the city's homicide squad, revisits his first unofficial assignment as he heads for another five-year review of the killer's case. The multiple homicides, committed by a man riddled with guilt and remorse, were his recreations of the thirteen stations of the Cross, in reverse order. The killer hoped that the return of Christ would absolve him of his sins and return the love of his life.

Pablo Omar Zaragoza emigrated from Cuba to the United States in 1959. As exiles, his parents had difficulty making a living, and they moved to California, New York, and Las Vegas. Zaragoza graduated from medical school and did his residency in pathology, which he practiced for many years. Now semi-retired, he pursues his other passion: writing.

Susan Giffin, his co-author and creative partner, is an award-winning author and editor of more than 200 books for clients around the world. Prior to becoming an editor, she spent a number of years as a public relations practitioner, primarily in the field of medicine.

Matson - Case No. 1 is the co-authors' third book to be published in 2017, following Protect the Guilty and Sour Life. Protect the Guilty won a 5-star review from a prestigious literary competition.
