The world around the last of civilization has surrendered to global warming, leaving two groups of survivors: the wealthy Nobles in the north and impoverished Drainers in the south, all safely tucked inside the sealed domed city of Sai. After almost 300 years, the dome is all they've ever known and are content until they find out their powerful turbine generators are being sabotaged by someone-or something. In the midst of it all, Lilith Burgess, the beautiful 17-year-old daughter of the president of Sai, falls for a handsome young school janitor named Adam Cleary. Relationships between Nobles and Drainers are forbidden, but despite Lilith's many attempts to stay away, there is an unmistakable draw to be near Adam. When their feelings for each other are realized, their secret love affair begins and they are determined to make sure nothing come between them. After Adam impossibly saves Lilith from falling off a second-floor balcony with his blur of blinding speed, she discovers he's hiding something and is determined to uncover it.
