Beskrivelse

Markie Burkshire has been happily married for more than twenty-five years to her high school sweetheart, JD Burkshire, a prominent Miami Paper Manufacturer. Markie was your nontypical, non-working woman, with two daughters who are now all grown up, with families of their own. Markie has always been an amazing housewife and mother, excelling at anything she put her mind to. She was blessed with a wonderful husband, that made a great living, so she never needed to work. She raised her girls to be strong independent women, but still loved staying home being a mom and a loving wife. She had a bout with a minor illness during her younger adult life but was now restored to perfect health. Looking back, reflecting on being a mom and a wife, was always more important to her than being a businesswoman. When the kids were older she tried her hand at local politics for a short time, but that got old very quickly. After that Markie had a lot of time on her hands and decided it was time she did something she enjoyed a lot. She had always been an avid reader, she even read to the kids when they were young. She would read to the girls for hours and still did on occasion when they brought her grandchildren to visit. She graduated now from kids' books, to her favorite genre, "Mysteries". Markie even started her own "mystery book club", held regular meetings where the members tried to solve mysteries written by other members of the club. She read every kind of mystery book she could find and even watched all the mystery and detective shows available on TV, yet still could not get enough. One bright, sunny spring day, as Markie was puttering in her garden, she got a brilliant idea, she wanted to write a mystery novel of her own. She loved a good mystery, ever since she was a kid and read all her mom's Nancy Drew and her cousins Hardy Boys books. Now she was into adult mysteries and after reading thousands of books decided she would try her hand at writing one of her own. Anyone she talked to tried to discourage her because they were not sure she would succeed, but she was determined. She took her time to develop great key characters and her mysterious storylines and after some trial and error and a few test books, she had her first published novel, which went to "Number 1 on the best Sellers List". After a few really good books under her belt, Markie Burkshire became a renowned best-selling A-list "Mystery Author". Markie was the funniest, classiest lady you ever want to meet and her mystery novels reflected that humor also. Her sense of humor grabbed you and never let you go as did her mysteries. Her novels were a hoot, very mysterious with just enough humorous quality thrown in, that made you wonder exactly "who done it". One day Markie and her editor and friend Ginger went on a little antique book hunt. She had heard of this old shop in central Florida that had boxes of books you could browse through and buy for a song. They made it a day trip and by the end of the day had quite a few boxes loaded in the back of her Cadillac SUV. Not long after that day trip to the antique bookstore, Markie's life started to unravel. She began getting some very strange phone calls. Numbers that were blocked or unknown and there was always someone there, but no one ever talked. Then one day a deep voice at the other end of the phone said, "I want my book back, I'm coming to get it". Markie had no idea what that meant, so she called her friend Madison Monroe to let her know there was something mysterious afoot. Being a mystery writer herself, she found this rather sinister. Not that she didn't like a good mystery but now she was embroiled in her very own real life mystery story.
