Maria The Chaste

Lady Maria, daughter of Shamoun, was a virtuous Egyptian lady and wife to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family. Having lived during and after the life of the Prophet, she is an important character of history that is often overlooked and a key character at the centre of the Quranic verses that discuss the infamous 'Event of Ifk'. While it is commonly believed these verses were revealed in defence of Aisha, daughter of Abu Bakr, a deeper look into history uncovers a conspiracy to conceal that it was Maria who was exonerated from the accusation of adultery made by Aisha herself.
