Making Changes to Heritage Assets

This advice note illustrates the application of thepolicies set out in the NPPF in determining applications for planningpermission and listed building consent, as well as other non-planning heritageconsents, including scheduled monument consent.It provides general advice according to differentcategories of intervention in heritage assets, including repair, restoration,addition and alteration, as well as on works for research alone, based on thefollowing types of heritage asset: buildings and other structures; standingremains including earthworks; buried remains and marine sites; and largerheritage assets including conservation areas, landscapes, including parks andgardens, and World Heritage Sites. It will be useful to owners, developers,local planning authorities and others in considering works to heritage assets.
