Don't just practice scales...practice scales with chords and patterns! Expand your skills with Major and Minor scales by performing them along with appropriate chords and common jazz patterns. Try improved versions of the standard scales all musicians learn: Major, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, and Melodic Minor plus an extra scale - the Jazz (Ascending) Melodic Minor. You will begin with simple one-octave scales, progress to thirds, advance to Coltrane patterns and then chord arpeggios with extensions.
