LYING CLOSE TO THE SKY explores in a modern setting themes of love and deceit, and of morality and redemption, that have inspired some of the greatest novels of the past. Simultaneously erotic and somber, it tells the story of a love affair of great passion - an affair that is mainly played out in a secret room created for that purpose, and that purpose alone, at the top of a house whose sun-drenched windows allow the lovers to lie close to the Carolina sky. How lying that begins in heat and passion morphs into lying of an entirely different order is the central thread of a novel that obliges first its central characters, and then its readers, to confront basic issues of personal responsibility and moral choice that stand at the core of the modern human condition.
