Beskrivelse
Lucky Me is a narrative of one man's life from childhood to retirement. The adventure begins in New York State, then to California, then on to career travels all over the country, living in various cities hither and yon. From the moribund neighborhoods of the Northeast in the late fifties, to vibrant Southern California in the sixties, it is a story of learning and adventure in many forms. Living through the trauma of a horrible accident at age one, where the top of his nose was cut off and reattached by ER surgeons in a small town, to living self-consciously and shy due to this deformity, and then perplexingly voted "best looking" in junior high and high school. It is the story of a young child who never saw an ocean, who then became an expert surfer; from a street kid who never played organized sports, who became an all-star baseball player and an all-league wide receiver in football. From a structured and grueling Catholic School in Upstate New York, to the freewheeling public schools of Southern California, it is the story of liberation, adjustment, decline, then the final rise of a young person trying to figure things out. It is the story of a pioneering young adult, being the first of his family to graduate college, handling the trials and tribulations of a young marriage and far-from-smooth career path. It is the story of an entry-level salesman who rose to be a Vice President of a Fortune 500 company. This sincere journey is also the story of a loving dad, trying to hold his emotions together in the midst of a divorce at age forty. You will find yourself relating as you follow a naive, idealistic young family man, to an older but wiser adult, who ends up happily married to the love of his life.
