Beskrivelse
This is the story of the USS-220, the submarine "Barb", under the command of her skipper, Commander Eugene Bennett Fluckey, and her crew, during the war in the Pacific theater. It sank more Japanese tonnage than any other US Navy vessel, being known as the "Galloping Ghost of the China Coast", an elusive ship killer feared by the Japanese Imperial Navy. Nobody got any Purple Uearts on this submarine, and everyone on board got back home alive. Advanced to the rank of Rear Admiral, "Lucky Fluckey", remained the same modest man, even though he was awarded with the highest Navy decorations, several times. The entire crew participated, every ten year, into memorable reunions, until there was no one to attend. This book is a honest homage to the memory of this group of dedicated men, who were part of the greatest generation.
