Marvin Peterson, known as Peabody to his friends and foes, lives in one of the most dangerous housing projects the government ever constructed. Although living in Pruitt-Igoe was painstakingly deadly for young men, his game of basketball was considered even more lethal. Considered as one of the city's best in 1966 and one of the most popular guys at Visitation High- known as the "Big V'," Peabody sets his sites on winning the elusive city championship and earning a scholarship to Dubois University.What is even more challenging is maintaining a relationship with his sweetheart, Thelma Holt, which is threatened by his popularity and ability to survive the mean streets of Pruitt-Igoe that are mined with violent stumbling blocks and beguiling pitfalls. Being caught by the enemy on the wrong side of the projects is one thing, but when you're six-five and wearing a school letterman's jacket with "All-City Basketball" across the back, the target gets even bigger.It is said, Hell is never full because man's eyes are never satisfied. Can Peabody withstand the pressures of popularity and remain loyal to his true love? Can he survive the violent social scene of the projects without getting buried by the Turbans, the Jolly Stompers, or the guys from the low-end?
