Beskrivelse

Little Rivers is a classic book written by Henry Van Dyke, first published in 1895. It is a collection of essays that reflect the author's love for fly fishing and the natural beauty of the streams and rivers where he practiced the sport. The book is divided into twelve chapters, each one dedicated to a different river or stream that the author visited and fished in. Van Dyke's writing style is descriptive and poetic, painting vivid pictures of the landscapes and wildlife he encountered on his fishing trips. He also shares his thoughts on the philosophy of fishing, the importance of conservation, and the joys of solitude and reflection that can be found while pursuing the sport. Little Rivers is a timeless work that captures the essence of fly fishing and the connection between man and nature. It is a must-read for anyone who loves the outdoors, fishing, or simply appreciates beautiful writing. But apart from the philosophy of the matter, which I must confess to passing over very superficially at the time, there were other and more cogent reasons for wanting to go from Venice to the Big Venetian. It was the first of July, and the city on the sea was becoming tepid. A slumbrous haze brooded over canals and palaces and churches. It was difficult to keep one's conscience awake to Baedeker and a sense of moral obligation; Ruskin was impossible, and a picture-gallery was a penance. We floated lazily from one place to another, and decided that, after all, it was too warm to go in. The cries of the gondoliers, at the canal corners, grew more and more monotonous and dreamy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
