In 1626, Charles Sorel published L'Orphize de Chrysante, a straightforward sentimental adventure novel... to judge by a somewhat rushed reading. In fact, an ironic story is hiding behind this inoffensive facade in terms of both content (libertine speech) and form (an ironic relationship with the commonplaces used).
