Life At the Well: God's Word Is Alive and In the Moment Every Day

The woman at the well could have been any one of us. She was living in sin. Jesus did not hesitate to tell her that the man she was currently living with was not her husband and that she had been married five times before. He could have been someone else's husband, which constituted adultery, or she was living a life of fornication. In those times, the word was harlot. The word commonly used today may be different, but the meaning is the same. The encounter between Jesus and the woman at the well was not a coincidence. You might say it was a predestined divine intervention. Their meeting can be likened to an altar call. I have been to the altar a few times in response to the feeling you get when you know you need to repent, better known as a conviction. Life is like that sometimes. All that is required for forgiveness is to believe, repent, and receive. Living Water is the message of salvation; the well symbolizes never-ending, life-flowing experiences that inspire listening, learning, living, and living again.
