This is the first book of the Ambulance Diaries series. I am currently working on the second book.
Liam Tyler has been a paramedic for 18 years when he runs a routine call for a patient that he knows well. An unexpected tragedy occurs that places Liam in the hospital in a coma. During the Coma Liam relives many of his calls as well as other memories that have helped shape the paramedic he has become. This story is written in first person so come and relive those stories with Liam.
PAIN!!! OH MY GOD!!! AAAGGGGHHHH... I open my eyes and try to scream but not sure if I am screaming. I am blinded by bright white lights and a loud, wailing screaming noise. I think I may have heard this noise before. I feel like I am falling and bumping into something constantly with my back. It may have a meaning, but I can't think about that at the moment because of the pain. It feels like someone is shoving something large and burning hot into my right chest and twisting it. I think I can hear voices. I've died and gone to Hell. I blink to try and see if I am in Hell. I see a young lady with blonde hair in a ponytail looking down at me. She reminds me of someone. Alex, it's Alex, and her face and hair appear splattered with large amounts of blood. She is talking, but I can't understand her. OH GOD, there is the pain again. I follow her arms down to my chest. OH SWEET JESUS, she is putting her index finger into my chest and pressing and twisting it. I am in hell, and they are trying to tear my heart out. I am in hell. I hear another voice and look to my left. Red hair, ponytail, green eyes, and tears are running down her face. Emmy is here to help me if I can just hear her. Wait, Emmy is grown up; what the hell is going on. Emmy bends down and talks close to my ear. "Liam, you are not in Hell. Don't you dare die. Fight brother, fight and don't give in. And try to be still so you don't bleed to death." Emmy looks up at Alex, "Damn it. He's bradying down. I've lost a radial pulse. Keep pressure on that artery. They have blood waiting. We are a minute out. Hold that artery." I knew that last bit meant something; however, I couldn't figure it out. The pain was fading and it was going to be alright. Emmy and Alex were both with me, everything was going to be ok and the blackness was coming again.
