Beskrivelse

Helen Hunt Jackson (October 18, 1830 - August 12, 1885), an American poet and writer who was a classmate of Emily Dickinson; the two corresponded for the rest of their lives, but few of their letters have survived. Ralph Waldo Emerson admired Helen Hunt Jackson's poetry and used several of her poems in his public readings. He included five of them in his Parnassus: An Anthology of Poetry (1880). In 1879, Jackson published, under her pen name H.H., Letters From A Cat subtitle "by her mistress for the benefit of all cats and the amusement of little children." In this lavish and faithful reprint from The Old Mill Press, Letters From A Cat maintains the full illustrations by Addie Ledyard. Initially published by Roberts Brothers, Boston, this beautifully crafted reprint is a must have for cat lovers everywhere. A classic book that will bring joy to all who read it. Jackson died in San Francisco on August 12, 1885 but her wonderful poetry and writings live on. The largest collection of her work is housed at Colorado College. The Helen Hunt Jackson Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library is a Mission/Spanish Revival style-building built in 1925, which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Cat lovers will thoroughly delight in this book featuring a black-linen cover embossed with a gold cat looking out with emerald green eyes. A treasured edition to one's personal library.
