The purpose of this book is to discern the qualities that make a good leader. If you want to be a good leader, this book is for you; it's also for those who want to be able to discern good leaders in their churches, communities, and even their political parties.

The focus of this book is a little-known character from the Bible who appears only in the book of Proverbs: King Lemuel. He was a person born with privilege, with position, and with power. That's an extremely dangerous combination, unless you live by principle. His mother knew that, and so his mother taught him the qualities that she believed he needed to embody to be a good leader.
