Legend of the Shaman

The last book in the Wyakin trilogy, Legend of the Shaman continues to follow the many racial and religious issues faced by Cortez Modrables. As an adult shaman, his greatest challenge comes when he falls in love with a Christian Nez Perce woman. Their racial, religious, social conflicts conspire to keep them apart-but will the Nez Perce War be their saving grace? Many books have been written about the so-called Nez Perce War and the several Nez Perce bands that made the incredible trek from central Idaho Territory and across Montana Territory to seek freedom in a place they called Grandmother's Land (now Canada). LEGEND OF THE SHAMAN's fictional characters interact with real historic persons, including Chief Joseph and the other chiefs and warriors, who participated in this tragic trek and the events leading up to it. This interaction with historic individuals, unique places and consequential events creates a riveting story of a little-known and oft-misrepresented, but important, piece of North American history.
