The present book is a collection of 9 papers and notes from the field in the area of community participation. This edited volume is a sequel to Volume One of the series 'Learning to Share,' edited by members of the SRIJ group and published in 1997 by the Concept Publishing Company. The contributors to this volume are development practitioners, engaged in Participatory Action Research (PAR). Their contributions in this volume are the outputs of 'participatory research' based on open-ended field inquiry and action as distinct from conventional 'academic research.' The present edited volume is a step forward in continuing with the process of learning in community participation. Often there is considerable experience to be shared by development practitioners who organize and facilitate such participation and also help in sustaining it. In this direction, the contributions livelihood and participatory impact assessment. The book provides a glimpse of such activities in different areas and locations as contributed by field practitioners. The book is meant for development practitioners, governmental and non-governmental organizations, donor agencies, action researchers and other involved in the area of community participation.
