Il volume raccoglie le raffigurazioni di statue e di tipo statuario che compaiono sulla ceramica figurata greca analizzandone i casi più significativi dal punto di vista iconografico, religioso ed artigianale. Del fenomeno si offre una visione allargata, che ne indaga le varie sfaccettature e penetra nel sistema di produzione delle immagini. Il quadro che ne risulta delinea stretti ed articolati contatti tra arti maggiori e minori e tra diverse produzioni figurative, quali la scultura e la pittura vascolare, proponendo un nuovo ruolo da attribuire alla ceramica nella tradizione figurativa.
This volume is a collection of pictures of statues, and types of statuary, that appear on Greek figurative ceramics and analyzes the most significant cases from an iconographic, religious and craft perspective. The phenomenon offers a broader vision that investigates the various facets of the images, and penetrates into their system of production. The resulting picture delineates tight and articulated contacts between the major and minor arts, and among the diverse figurative products, among them sculpture and vase painting while proposing a new role attributable to ceramics within the figurative tradition.
