The Victorians may have attempted to show the world they were upright, strict and full of virtue but much of this thinking has been subverted by their erotic and pornographic writing. The full title of the book is Laura Middleton; Her Brother and Her Lover which rather gives the plot away as indeed this is the story of Laura's sexual awakening with both her brother and her lover who are both school chums and get extra chummy together thereby chronicling a wide range of sexual experiences both hetero and homosexual with the climax providing details of their menage a trois. The daring nature of the book, detailing their sexual exploits, meant as with other Victorian pornographic literature, that it has no credited author. However, it is well written with greater character development than one might expect so definitely worth a read.
