This book contains papers presented in a national seminar jointly organized by the Council for Social Development and Rural Development Institute, New Delhi on November 9-10, 2010. Besides, some papers were especially commissioned for this volume. The contributors are internationally known experts who have done extensive research and policy advocacy in the field of land reform. The book analyses various old and new ways for redistributive land reform and makes an in-depth analysis of: (i) existing tenancy laws in various States and their implications for agricultural efficiency and equity, (ii) land rights for women, (iii) tribal land issues and (iv) land acquisition policy.
