Beskrivelse
People have been breeding plants to improve quality, increase yields and reduce harmful characteristics in crops for thousands of years. In the last few decades, plant breeders have been able to introduce beneficial traits in plants more precisely using a variety of techniques commonly known today as plant biotechnology. There are a number of processes that fall into the broader category of plant biotechnology. A laboratory is a workshop for a scientist. Here researcher does the techniques for preparation of chemical substances and formulate new methods. One must know what all procedures are involved in the experiment and what all types of equipment and chemicals are required for it. Proper knowledge about the working principles of the types of equipment and the nature of the chemicals are essential. Exposure to several hazardous and toxic chemicals and other agents in a laboratory poses danger to the researcher so it is essential to adopt safety measures for their protection. This manual can be used on a variety of courses, including Plant Biotechnology and Plant Genetics. The book has been designed to familiarise graduate students with protocols on plant tissue culture and recombinant DNA technology.
