Homesteader Sam Jackson falls in love with fifteen-year-old Nessa, Love at first sight. When Nessa's father gives Sam permission to court her, she realizes she must leave her childhood behind.

She struggles to become a capable young woman in the rugged Oklahoma Territory of the late 1890s, while Sam labors to win her love, and provide a home for her.

A tornado and a blizzard bring Nessa to a closer relationship with God, and to the realization that she loves Sam.

She begins to plan for her wedding, but unexpected obstacles emerge that put her marriage in jeopardy.
