How can the tools of critical theory be used for analysis in the field of education? This volume brings together selected approaches from the past 37 years that have been published in the journal "Pädagogische Korrespondenz". In addition to the development of a critical theory of pedagogy, the contributions deal with the phenomenon of semi-education, the historical constitution of critical theory in pedagogy and aesthetics. The introductory commentary examines to what extent these studies are still convincing today and to what extent the means of critical theory were actually used.
