Beskrivelse
Tammy is the rebellious sole child to her kindly older mother. Before she can complete high school, Tammy has three kids. Her mom - Kitty - has to quit her job to help her daughter raise these kids. But Tammy is not cut out to be a parent. She decides to accompany her musician boyfriend when he gets a tour in the US.
The notorious rock band, The Noise, takes notice of her and asks Tammy to come along with them as their assistant road manager. Tammy accepts, and the band becomes her family for the next 15 years.
Back in Toronto, Kitty is raising the three grandchildren by herself. Tammy sends money home occasionally, money made by a sideline hustle she has going...selling locks of the lead singer's hair. When Tammy gets booted off the tour, she has nowhere to go but to her childhood home in Toronto.
She immediately has to take her mom, Kitty, out of a retirement home where she apparently has become a nuisance. Tammy can't believe it but yes, her mother has changed and it's not for the best. Kitty has gotten herself addicted to casinos. Kitty is the one now rebelling. She doesn't want to get her nails done or take ceramics classes; she wants to gamble. Though it's not Tammy's thing, in order to keep the peace, she gives in and takes Kitty to the casino. Once a week is not enough though.
This novel is a funny, feel-good touching story of a child who is spoiled into adulthood and refuses to be a parent to her own kids, only to find herself the mother to a band of four rock stars. And her real mother, Kitty Casino, who was pretty much a saint all her life. Now she just wants to enjoy her last few years and if she has to be a bad-ass to get her way, so be it.
