Many often stand in awe but perplexed in the shadows of Western architecture influenced by Christianity. The need for a basic knowledge of Christian church architecture may be found in this volume.The authors portray 12 churches that are representative of the respective eras and also provide an important model of religious practice. Students of architectures, art history, cultural sciences and theology often are perplexed by the major works of Western architecture, which have been clearly influenced by Christian thought. Apparently there has been a massive break with tradition which triggers our need to renew our knowledge of the witnesses to former Christian architecture.
