Jesus desires his people to understand the Kingdom's foundation that was laid in the Hebrew Scriptures. When Jesus speaks of the Kingdom of God, he speaks of the time of the fulfillment of the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants─A time of a restored Earth where the faithful will worship and serve their God forever under the ruler-ship of a righteous leader of the Davidic line. This has been the Messianic hope of the prophets of the Hebrew Scriptures and is carried over and echoed in the words of John the Baptist, Jesus, Peter, Paul and others in the Greek Scriptures. The Kingdom of God is the true and the actual Kingdom of heaven-its foundation is in heaven, from which it's King and founder has descended from the bosom of the Father. Yet, the Kingdom remains one of the most misunderstood, misconstrued, misrepresented, abstracted, and contested realities in the World of Christianity. Most churches today rarely mention the Kingdom, let alone teach and obey its established and present-day elements. For centuries, even theologians have been divided over the Kingdom's timing and nature. All the confusions and differences have led to bizarre behaviours and avoidance practices. The second module emphasizes on the foundation concepts of the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is the most important and all-encompassing concept of Scripture. So much is contained within it. The Kingdom of God is the central teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ and at the heart of his Earthly ministry. It has been the core to his Worldview and that of his first followers, the New Testament writers, and the early Church. It is the very essence of New Testament Christianity. Even today, the Kingdom is no longer the central teaching of the Church, nor its very essence. When was the last time have you heard a sermon on the Kingdom? Or, attended a Sunday-School class which topic was the Kingdom? Or, signed up for a conference or seminar whose theme was the Kingdom of God?
