Born in Chiba, Japan on July 11, 1966, Kentaro Miura created his first manga at age ten, honed his skills with his high school classmates, trained with a legendary manga artist, mastered his craft at Nihon University, created an iconic dark warrior character with a giant sword, wrote one of the best-selling manga series of all time, and forever changed the worlds of manga, anime, video games, movies, and literature. Tragically, Miura died of an acute aortic disruption on May 6, 2021, at the age of 54. But he inspired a new generation of manga artists, and his trained assistants carry on with his work for his millions of devoted fans around the world.
