Beskrivelse
History is the witness that testifies to the passing of time; it illumines reality, and provides guidance in daily life. It brings us news of olden times. There are many books on Kashmir history but this book is unique in a way as it gives most of the information about some anecdotal and humorous incidents. It is very significant to trace the origins and evolution of Kashmiri society from the earliest times in view of attempts being made by some unscrupulous people to present the entire pre-Islamic past of the valley as one long period of darkness. A lot of mischief has been done by those who in the grab of historiographers are using negativist tactics to suppress what is true and suggest what is false. They have mined the whole area of historical investigation with numerous falsehood and fact distortions. These distortions need to be cleared from the path of our vision so that it will be possible for us to see and place things in correct perspective. 'Kashmir A Concise History' is the culmination of years of research and careful observation. This volume work is a valuable orientation book and a magical point of entry into the minds of those who lived so many centuries ago. It is rare that a book speaks so artfully to such a wide range of topics. Here you will find information about history, art, and religion, seamlessly woven together to place events into historical context. The book gives a quick description of The History of Kashmir from early period to the modern conditions. I hope the book will clear the haze around the Kashmir history and will prove useful to general public. While using the book, in one respect, there really is no difference between an AD/BC and BCE/CE system when it comes to historical dates. The year 25 AD is exactly the same as the year 25 CE, and 4005 BC is also 4005 BCE. References to historical dates under either classification shouldn't create confusion in reader's mind. Major historical dates such as 1492 AD, 1776 AD or 1941 AD would still be rendered as 1492 CE, 1776 CE and 1941 CE.
