This tale of the American Civil War follows the exploits of the 2nd German Regiment (28th Ohio Volunteer Infantry) from their battles against guerrilla forces in the West Virginia mountains to Antietam and the Battle of New Market. The author's great-grandfather was a company commander and was wounded at Burnside Bridge.
