According to CDC, approximately 12.5 million children aged 2 to 19 years are obese.6 The prevalence of obesity among children and adolescents has nearly tripled since 1980. Childhood obesity can cause a number of harmful effects on health, including high blood pressure and cholesterol, breathing problems and asthma, and increased risk of type II diabetes.
