In all its splendour, the red cardinal appeared to Lauren on many occasions. In peaceful times and in heartbreaking surroundings. It was always there, reaching out to her and singing its beautiful melody. It flitted about and perched on nearby branches as if begging her to understand why it was there.

It took the extraordinary gift of Lauren's three-year-old daughter, Lexi, to open her eyes, mind and soul.
