This volume provides lived insights into what it takes to "make it" in Washington, D.C., flavored with a Demon Deacon perspective. The fifteen interview featured Wake Forest alumni who span the generations from those in the finale of successful careers to those beginning their life's work. The chapters are the exclusive work of the Wake Washington Fellows, who identified whom they would interview, made logistical arrangements, and transcribed and edited their interactions. In most instances, the synergy of a student's enthusiasm and the interviewee's expertise resulted in magical moments. You will find important takeaways from each interview, even as different interviews will likely speak to different readers, perhaps reflecting of their own stages in the journey. Almost without the authors' realization, the interviewees composed insightful narratives that run the gamut of accomplishment and career paths. From professional politicians to artists, from those who agitate to those brokering agreement, the interviews reflect the range of alumni who compose Wake Forest's Washington community.
