Journey to Islam is a reflective autobiography on the journey of an American Muslim woman who was raised in the Christian church. It traces her search for the truth of her own beliefs, and the trials she faced on the journey to realizing her faith. Her story begins: "I walk through my life in a masquerade, appearing to be something I am not, simply because people see what they expect to see. When they look at me, they see a middle-aged white woman with a round, Irish face, wavy, dark brown hair, winged with silver when I forget to color it, and mossy hazel-green Irish eyes with sort, thin lashes. They see my face, and my hair, and my clothing, and they see a Christian. This is my masquerade."
