Beskrivelse
Crying is a natural response to many different emotions and can be beneficial for our mental, physical and spiritual health. Studies have found that people who cry often have lower levels of stress and are less likely to suffer from anxiety and depression. Crying can serve as a catalyst for profound self-reflection and spiritual growth which is what this book is all about. There is healing power in our tears which can come from open awareness of the state of our stained souls. We live in a sin-sick world and we are called to pray for others as well as ourselves to protect us from the temptations to sin dangled in front of us by the evil spirits.
The early Desert Fathers believed in the "gift of tears" bestowed by the Holy Spirit. Learn how the gift has appeared throughout time in the lives of some saints as a frequent practice and received by people today during single or more occurrences.
The author presents a number of instances when Jesus has cried to saints about how people continue to blaspheme him and spit in his face by their sins. The reader is introduced to Our Lady of Tears and the times when the Blessed Mother has cried in front of visionaries during her apparitions. He includes the history of tears and crying in the lives of St Monica, St Augustine, St Theresa of Lisieux, St Vianney, St Ephrem and prophets like Jeremiah and Hezekiah.
