Beskrivelse
The present book is a modest attempt to make readers conversant with an overview of Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach and also 'provides sufficient information for a comprehensive understanding of Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach and allied disciplines. It is prepared to provide undergraduate and postgraduate students a rich but concise matter in simple language. Due care is taken to emphasize on the fundamental concepts in Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach which are essential for the proper understanding of this new science. The text in this book is divided into nine parts. Part 1 comprises of classical Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach or Mendelian Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach. It deals with the history of Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach, Mendelian inheritance of characters, Gene Interaction, Polygenic Inheritance, Linkage and Crossing Over and Chromosome Mapping. A chapter on Probability and Statistical Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach has also been added. Part II embraces Sex Determination, Sex-Linked Inheritance and Cytoplasmic Inheritance. Part III deals with Microbial Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach; Part IV with Human Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach and Part V comprises of Physical Basis of Heredity. Part VI deals with Chemical Basis of Heredity or Molecular Biology; Part VII deals with Genetic Engineering or Recombinant DNA Technology. Part VIII deals with Change in Number and Structure of Chromosomes and Gene Mutations. Part IX incorporates Applied Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach. It gives useful information about Inbreeding, Outbreeding and Hybrid vigour, Applications of genetic principles to animal and plant breeding, Population Introduction to Genetics: A Molecular Approach and Evolution,Each chapter contains suitable examples, well illustrated diagrams and unsolved questions. The book stands out singly in giving a large number of solved problems. A glossary has been made in the end so as to learn the meaning and origin of the words used in the text.
